Tulsi – Radha Krishna Temple
Tulsi — holy basil — has a distinctive place in Indian devotional life, and this incense captures its character with surprising delicacy.
The fragrance is gently herbal at its core, softened by a light floral sweetness that keeps it approachable and calm. It feels clean and composed rather than sharp, with a quiet clarity that makes it easy to return to again and again.
An excellent choice for daily use, prayer, or any time you want something centring without being intrusive.
Kasturi Chandan - Radha Krishna Temple
Despite the name — Kasturi suggesting musk and Chandan sandalwood — this incense leans in an unexpected and very appealing direction. Rather than musky, it opens into a deep, rounded sweetness with an almost fruity warmth.
What makes it work so well is restraint. The sweetness never tips into anything cloying or artificial, and there’s no trace of soapiness. Instead, it settles into a rich, comforting fragrance that feels composed and assured.
A quietly crowd-pleasing choice, particularly well-suited to late afternoon and evening use.
A classic musky kasturi with floral depth — rich, warm, and quietly spicy.
Kasturi is one of the oldest and most revered fragrance materials in the Indian tradition, and not always the easiest on a first encounter — we've written about exactly that in the journal, if you're curious: On Liking Difficult Scents. Misbah's Ruh Kasturi presents it with confidence. The name is worth a moment's attention: ruh in the Indian attar trade denotes a pure distilled essence rather than a blended accord — a signal that kasturi is the central, undiluted subject of this stick rather than a background note folded into something else.
The stick itself is immediately distinctive — a deep purple, hand-rolled with a generous paste and finished with melnoorva powder. On the cold stick the kasturi is direct and present: peppery, uncompromising, but not aggressive. On the burn it softens and opens, the floral notes coming forward to balance the musk — warm and spicy underneath, more rounded and complex on top.
This is the Misbah incense to reach for when you want something rooted in the classical musky register of Indian domestic fragrance — the kind of scent that has been warming homes across the subcontinent for generations.
Rooted, Dry, Cooling
Vetiver incense is built around the distinctive aroma of vetiver root (khus), a material widely used in Indian perfumery for its grounding, cooling, and stabilising character. Unlike bright florals or sweet resins, vetiver has a dry, earthy profile — woody, slightly smoky, and faintly bitter — often described as rooty rather than perfumed.
In incense, vetiver is valued for its ability to settle a space without dominating it. The fragrance tends to remain close and steady, making it well suited to warm weather or to those who prefer quieter, less ornamental blends. It is commonly used both on its own and as a structural element within more complex masala formulations.
A straightforward, material-led incense with a natural, understated presence — particularly appealing to those who favour dry woods and roots over sweetness or floral lift.

Dual Resin Incense
Guggal Loban brings together two of the most important resins in Indian incense tradition: guggal (Indian bdellium) and loban, also known as sambrani. Both have been used for centuries in perfumery, temple incense, and everyday household fumigation, valued as much for their aromatic character as for their practical qualities.
Guggal is a dry, balsamic resin with a warm, slightly bitter edge and a natural smokiness that forms the backbone of many traditional masala blends. Loban or sambrani, by contrast, is softer and rounder — gently sweet, resinous, and diffusive — often used to soften harsher notes and give incense a lingering presence in the air. Together, they create a fragrance that is earthy, smoky, and quietly complex rather than overtly perfumed.
This is an incense with a grounded, unadorned character. It clears and settles a space without sweetness or floral ornament, making it especially appealing to those who favour the raw honesty of resins and woods over decorative blends.

Cauvery 'Oriental Exotica'
Traditional Karnataka sandalwood character: warmer and slightly spicy without tipping into the heavier, darker end of the sandalwood spectrum.
20 sticks per box, Mysore sandalwood made with the support of the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation.
Cauvery Natural Sandal
Another excellent sandalwood stick from Cauvery who specialise in incense made from the natural sandalwood from Karnataka. A gentle, warm fragrance ideal as a background for meditation and mornings especially.
50g box
Less overtly perfumed on the stick than the Golden agarbatti, with a slightly woodier, more restrained character from the outset. When lit, it shares the same sandalwood base as the Golden, but presents it in a lighter, more lifted way — a touch drier, with a gentle brightness that sits higher in the room. It lingers particularly well, leaving a clean, pleasant trace after burning.
Cauvery Loban (with Sandalwood)
A softer, more approachable take on traditional loban. The unlit stick is noticeably perfumed, and some of that carries through into the burn, where the resinous depth of sambrani is gently rounded by sandalwood. The result is less austere than pure loban — warmer, more fragrant — while still retaining its distinctive character.
A packet containing no less than 20 hand-rolled sticks, approx. 30g -35g.

Classic Heritage Blend
Fragrance: distinctive floral-woody masala with sandalwood and camphor notes
First produced in Mumbai in the early 1970s, Shivranjani is Baykeri’s signature incense — a blend that has quietly earned a loyal following for its calm, distinctive fragrance. Each stick is hand-rolled using the traditional masala method, combining sandalwood, cooling camphor and natural Himalayan herbs.
The result is a smooth, refined aroma that feels both clean and comforting — gently floral with soft woody undertones. Originally created for devotional settings, Shivranjani has since become a favourite for everyday use.
A much-respected blend that lingers long after the stick has finished, leaving its graceful fragrance quietly perfuming the room.
Baykeri’s have managed something rather rare here — a truly distinctive fragrance that has quietly stood the test of time. Highly recommended.

Prashanti Nag Champa is a warm and atmospheric incense from Baykeri’s, built around the house’s distinctive herbal masala base.
On the stick the fragrance opens with deep notes of kasturi and musk, touched by fleeting floral top notes.
When lit, the familiar Baykeri’s house blend quickly becomes the foundation of the scent. In practice this makes Prashanti feel less like a conventional Nag Champa and more like a welcome variation on their classic Shivranjani style, though gentle nods to the sweetness of Nag Champa remain present.
The overall effect is warm, meditative and quietly atmospheric — an incense well suited to afternoon or evening use, gradually bringing depth and presence to a room.
As a long-time admirer of Baykeri’s distinctive house character, with its natural, almost Himalayan herbal tones, I find this a particularly satisfying blend.
Beautiful.

This Nag Champa from the B.G Pooja store is a surprisingly accomplished interpretation of the classic Indian fragrance. On the stick the aroma is light, floral and slightly sharp, but once lit it develops into a rich and beautifully balanced blend of creamy sandalwood and joyful champaka.

Character: deep, comforting and quietly atmospheric
A fairly generous masala paste hand-rolled onto a natural bamboo splint. On the stick the fragrance opens with deep woody notes, soft spice and a faint sharpness typical of agarwood, leaning more toward warmth and sweetness than the darker animalic tones sometimes associated with oud.
