Oudh & Amber

Oudh & Amber

Oudh and agarwood occupy some of the richest, most complex territory in Indian incense making — dark, resinous materials with roots in both Arabian perfume tradition and Hindu devotional practice. The two words are sometimes used interchangeably, but the styles they produce can differ: from deeply perfumed and honeyed to drier, woodier and more quietly atmospheric.

We have selected five wonderful examples from across that spectrum as an introduction to this remarkable corner of Indian incense making — we hope you enjoy them.

 This discovery set comprises:

  • Shahi Agar – True Vrindavan

  • Agar Oudh– Meena’s Perfumery

  • Black Oudh – Gulabsingh Johrimal

  • Agarwood – BG Pooja Store

  • Amber Mahal – Manohar Sugandhi

25 sticks, 5 sticks of each variety, a total of no less than 50g of incense.
